KIEV, June 3 – A delegation of experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency has started its work at Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant to consider the reasons for the partial collapse of the ceiling and wall constructions in turbine room No. 4 that occurred on February 12, as well as to check the course of the cleanup operations following the collapse and evaluate its consequences.
A posting on the Chernobyl website reads that the delegation includes IAEA experts and international experts in the spheres of nuclear safety, the supervision of building structures, and safety culture.
Chernobyl Director General Ihor Hramotkin said that the plant's administration initiated the delegation's visit. The administration of Chernobyl asked the IAEA to make independent evaluation of the incident and actions of the staff to tackle the consequences.
