KHARKIV, May 16 – Another batch of melange, a toxic component of rocket fuel, which was stored in the warehouses of military unit A-2136 in Shevchenkove district, has been removed from Kharkiv region for disposal in Russia, Kharkiv Regional State Administration reported.
"Seven tanks with 366.8 tons of melange were loaded and sent to Russia. A total of 1,155 tons of melange currently remain stored in tanks, given the latest loading and on-site neutralization. Moreover, the warehouses of military unit A-2136 also store 88.5 tons of another rocket fuel," the administration's press service reported.
The removal of melange for disposal in Russia is carried out under a joint project of Ukraine and the OSCE. The project foresees removal of all melange (more than 2,700 tons) that was stored in Kharkiv region as of early December 2012.
