Journal Staff Report

KIEV, April 29 – The Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Economy Ministry hopes to raise EUR 1.5 billion from international banks which will be sent to upgrade the housing and utilities sectors.

"We're working on the issue with the World Bank, European Investment Bank and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The packages that we've discussed during three months amounts to some EUR 1.5 billion… [and] this is a very important compound, as these are funds that will go to Ukraine for investment in the upgrade," Minister Hennadiy Temnyk said at a conference in Kiev on April 26, 2013.

Temnyk also said that as a whole it is planned to invest UAH 22 billion in the development of the sector in two years. He did not disclose the origin of the funds.
