VYSHGOROD (Kiev region), April 1 – Ukrhydroenergo, which operates all of the major hydroelectric power plants on the Ukrainian sections of the Dnipro and Dniester rivers, plans to raise funds from international banks to create new generating facilities, Director General Ihor Syrota said at a press conference in Vyshgorod on Monday.
He said that funds from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will be raised to build the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant two, and funds from the World Bank will be taken to build the Kaniv hydroelectric pumped-storage power plant.
On Monday Syrota and Ranjit Lamech, Sector Manager for Energy in the Europe and Central Asia Region at the World Bank, discussed the possibility of the bank's participation in the projects.
