KIEV, March 27 - The National Commission for Communications Regulation plans by the end of 2013 to agree with the Defense Ministry on conducting conversion of radio frequency bands suitable for the introduction of 3G and 4G communications standards, NCCR head Petro Yatsuk said during the presentation of a report on the regulator's operations in 2012.
"Many things were said about us having to work on the radio frequency band spectrum. We're ready for this. We have very good relations with the administration [of the state committee for special communications and information protection]. We plan by the end of the year [to find a solution for] 3G and 4G with the Defense Ministry," he said.
Yatsuk said that the position of the ministry towards settling the conversion issue has changed, which gives hope that 3G licenses will be issued to operators, and maybe 4G licenses as well.
