KIEV, March 15 – The All-Ukrainian Association of Car Importers and Dealers (VAAID) in connection with Ukraine's decision to impose special import duties on cars with the engines of 1,000-2,200 cc for three years, which are to come into force in 30 days, is intending to recommend vehicle importers import and perform the customs clearance of cars during these 30 days under the old system without special duties.
"Instead of a tax for rich people, about which the government has been talking for three years, the Cabinet on March 14 imposed an additional tax on the poor, as it is difficult to imagine that Ukrainian oligarchs buy cars with the engines of 1,000-2,200 cc. VAAID will do everything possible so that the price of foreign cars for Ukrainians would not rise for some time," reads a statement spread by VAAID in connection with Ukraine's decision to impose special import duties published on Thursday.
