KIEV, March 5 – The National Bank of Ukraine says it is against legislative initiatives to ban the opening of bank deposits in foreign currency and a 25% tax on individuals' income from bank deposits (bills No. 2400 and No. 2401).
"As the bank system regulator, the NBU doesn't support the abovementioned initiatives to ban the opening of bank deposits in foreign currency and the taxation of income from bank deposits. Instead, the central bank's policy is aimed at promoting the growth of the deposit base in accordance with international practice," reads the statement.
