KIEV, March 4 – The Ukrainian Defense Ministry believes that a realistic date for the transition to the contract-based staffing of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is 2017.

"Yes, I believe that the reforms will be effective and that our Ukrainian Armed Forces will move to the professional principle of staffing and ensure complete combat readiness," First Deputy Defense Minister Oleksandr Oliynyk said at a briefing in Kiev on Monday.
