KIEV, March 4 - The European Union is in favor of the trilateral model for the management of Ukraine's gas transportation system, EU Energy Commissioner Guenther Oettinger said in an interview with Kommersant-Ukraine newspaper.

"We can offer Ukraine a trilateral consortium which would include a Russian participant, Naftogaz Ukrainy and European businesses," Oettinger said.

He said financial companies, banks and insurance companies as well as gas companies could represent Europe in the consortium.
