KIEV, Feb. 21 – The Cabinet of Ministers has proposed introducing amendments to the existing laws governing the activity of the media, bringing them into line with the recommendations of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on guaranteeing the transparency of media ownership, the Justice Ministry reported.
A respective bill prepared by the Justice Ministry was approved at a government meeting on February 20.
The bill envisages that while submitting an application for the issuing or extension of a broadcasting license, in particular, it is necessary to provide information about stockholders that own stakes of more than 5% each at the time of the submission of the application.
