KIEV, Jan. 29 – The draft of the new Labor Code, which was supported at first reading and is to be submitted for approval in 2013, foresees a number of innovations, one of which is the possible extension of the working day up to 12 hours.
"Article 143 of the Labor Code of Ukraine actually allows setting unlimited extensions to working days and weeks. Increasing the working week from the present 40 hours up to 48 hours evoked the biggest number of discussions in scientific circles," director of the Labor Institute at the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine Yuriy Kundiev told Dzerkalo Tyzhnia (Mirror Weekly).
According to Kundiev, according to the draft on the Labor Code, the working day in any company could be prolonged to 12 hours, and "with enough reasons" it could be even longer.
