KIEV, Jan. 22 – Consumer confidence in Ukraine in December 2012 improved, while devaluation expectations dropped, according to a monthly survey of GfK Ukraine.
"New Year consumer fever influenced consumer confidence which was also supported with the successful suppression of the fear of financial crisis. At the same time, economic expectations remain low, and January would reflect the true level of optimism Ukrainians have," as GfK Ukraine analysts comment.
The Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) is 85.1 in December; it is 1.4 points higher than in November.
The main factor behind the improvement of consumer confidence in December was seasonal increase of the propensity to consume. Economic Expectations of the population kept the November level losing 0.3 points to 82.9.
