KIEV, Nov. 9 – The Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry forecasts that the grain harvest in Ukraine in 2012 is about 46.2 million tons, against the 56.7-million-ton bumper crop in 2011.

As the said on Friday, farmers had threshed 43 million tons of grain and leguminous crops from 14 million hectares by November 9, 2012, which was 95% of the area under crops.

The average crop yield for grain crops in the country is 30.7 centners (a metric centner equals 100 kilograms, or 220.46 pounds) per hectare, whereas it was 36.2 centners per hectare as of the same date last year.
