Journal Staff Report

KIEV, Oct. 16 - National power company Ukrenergo plans to raise $1.25 billion loan for building a steam-gas power plant in Scholkine (Crimea) and the development of a power and gas distribution network in the eastern part of the Crimean peninsula.

The government presented Parliament a bill for the provision of a UAH 10 billion guarantee for Ukrenergo's obligations as the receiver of the borrowed funds (UAH 7.993/$1 on October 16, 2012).

According to an explanatory note for the draft law, the implementation of the construction of the steam-gas plant requires a $1.25 billion loan.

It was earlier reported that state enterprise Crimea Generating Systems is working with Chinese investors on the construction of a steam-gas power plant in Scholkine.
