KIEV, Sept. 27 – The National Bank of Ukraine said it increased its gold reserves by 220,000 ounces, to 1.12 million ounces, in January-August.
In August, the NBU bought 60,000 ounces, in July – 10,000 ounces, in May – 70,000 ounces, and 40,000 ounces in each of March and April.
The cost of the gold reserve in official reserves of the NBU since the start of the year rose by 34.2%, or by $0.47 billion, to $1.86 billion both thanks to a rise in its volume and thanks to a rise in gold prices on the market.
