DNIPROPETROVSK, Sept. 11 – Dnipropetrovsk’s International Scientific and Industrial Corporation Westa, a major producer of accumulator batteries, has put into operation a $97 million plant for the emissions-free processing of used batteries LLC Lead Recuperation, or RekS.

President Viktor Yanukovych took part in the opening ceremonies.

The new enterprise's processing capacity is calculated at 40,000 tons of used car and truck batteries (or around 3.5 million batteries), which will make possible around 22,000 tons of finished product in the form of lead and lead alloys.
