KIEV, Sept. 5 – The state will retain VAT allowances for the press and book publishing and will assist the networks in retail sale of print publications, President Viktor Yanukovych said.

"Only a financially independent mass media could be completely independent from any control," he said delivering a speech at the opening ceremony for the 64th World Newspaper Congress and 19th Editors Forum in Kiev on Monday.
