KIEV, Sept. 5 - Ukraine started production of natural gas from two new major deposits on Wednesday in a bid to reduce reliance on gas imports from Russia and to enhance its energy security.

The Odessa gas field offshore the Black Sea and the on-shore Runovshchynske field in the Poltava region are the two biggest gas deposits that have been put in operation in Ukraine in recent years.
