KIEV, Sept. 5 – The introduction of a recycling tax on vehicles imported from Russia proposed by Prime Minister Mykola Azarov in response to similar actions by Russia could result in a violation of international obligations and prompt action from Russia and other trade partners, Andriy Zablotsky, the head of the international trade department at Volkov&Partners law firm, told Interfax-Ukraine.
"Response [or 'mirror'] measures are often used by countries as a tool of political pressure, although often they are not in line with the liabilities of the country which applies them. Thus, the introduction of similar measures in response to Russia's actions could lead to a violation of the international liabilities of Ukraine," he said.
