KIEV, Aug. 23 – The National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting has recognized National Geographic as a channel that does not meet the requirements of the European Convention on Transfrontier Television and Ukrainian laws.

The statement says that a monitoring of the channel was conducted in May which showed that the channel is broadcasting alcohol advertisements.

"Under the law, Ukraine reserves the right to restrict the rebroadcasting on its territory of programs containing the advertising of alcoholic beverages," reads the statement.
