KIEV, Aug. 10 – Rinat Akhmetov's Foundation for Development of Ukraine has installed high-quality equipment worth UAH 650,000 as part of the targeted assistance program at the intensive care unit of the Ukrainian Children's Cardiac Center and at the Institute of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, the foundation reported.
The Children's Cardiac Center now has a modern artificial lung ventilator.
"An artificial lung ventilation device supplied by Rinat Akhmetov's Foundation for Development of Ukraine helps perform high-frequency oscillatory ventilation in preterm infants with complex heart defects, as well as patients with severe pneumonia and acute respiratory failure. It is very important, because we now have an opportunity to save the lives of patients who did not earlier have a chance to survive," the chief doctor of the Children's Cardiac Center of the Ukrainian Health Ministry, Volodymyr Zhovnir, said.
