KIEV, July 31 – Deputy Prime Minister and Social Policy Minister Sergiy Tyhypko, deputy leader of the ruling Regions Party, believes the pro-government party has achieved good results, which, in his opinion, gives it the moral right to participate in parliamentary elections.
"If we talk about figures, the average salary at the beginning of 2010 was UAH 1,906, and now it stands at UAH 3,016, a rise of 58%. The minimum wage was UAH 643, and now it is UAH 1,100, a rise of 70%. Pensions grew by 60-65%. Assistance to families on the birth of a child has more than doubled. Assistance to orphans under the age of six has grown by 60%, from UAH 1,140 to UAH 1,830, and those aged over six - from UAH 1,428 to UAH 2,282, a rise of 60%. The same situation is observed with respect to virtually all social standards. I believe that this gives the Regions Party the chance to participate in the elections with confidence," he said, when asked by a Facebook user whether the Regions Party has a moral right to participate in the elections.
