KIEV, July 27 – Measures taken against the Oranta insurance company in recent weeks could be described as hostile takeover or raiding attempts, company chairman Ihor Puhachev said.
According to Puhachev, from Thursday, July 19, to Monday, July 23, Oranta's clients were sent spam messages from someone called OrantaInfo that they must immediately come to the nearest office of the company to receive payments. Most clients were those who had no insurance cases or who had received payments from the company.
Puhachev said that investigations conducted by the company's security service regarding the source of the spam were not successful.
In response to a prompt statement by the company that the messages contain disinformation and that its clients are paid insurance claim fees as normal, an anonymous article was posted on the Obozrevatel.com Web site, which claimed the messages were sent by Oranta staff to deceive customers.
