KIEV, July 18 - Bogdan Corporation, one of the largest operators on the automobile market of Ukraine, says it may close its car plant in Cherkasy and transferring its welding and painting equipment to Russia for the possible resumption of car production in Russia, and the corporation is currently in talks with some European automakers regarding this.
"It's unprofitable to produce cars in Ukraine today, the plant is working at 10% capacity and production is constantly falling, while the government is taking no measures to protect manufacturers and the market. At the same time, the Russian market is growing, it is protected by high import duties, and now the country is introducing salvage duties on cars, which makes car imports to the country unprofitable for us," Bogdan Corporation spokesman Serhiy Krasulia told Interfax-Ukraine.
