KIEV, July 11 – Ukraine and Pakistan are expanding cooperation in the program for the development of the Pakistani Al-Khalid main battle tank.
Interfax-Ukraine learned from a source at the Malyshev Plant (Kharkiv) that following talks recently held by the leadership of Ukraine's tank construction plant and Pakistan's Heavy Industries, agreement was reached on the supply to Pakistan of a large batch of Ukrainian power units with 6TD-2 engines (1,200 hp) for the Al-Khalid MBT.
According to the source, "the issue concerns the supply of more than 100 power units as part of a contract of at least five years." He did not specify other details of the agreements reached at this stage.
