BRUSSELS, June 27 – Brussels highly evaluates a bill aimed at achieving the liberalization of the electricity market of Ukraine, which is "a good step forward," EU officials say.
A discussion of the bill on the principles of the functioning of the electricity market of Ukraine took place in Brussels on Tuesday as part of a roundtable meeting entitled "Electricity Market Liberalization - Ukrainian Prospects and EU Experience" organized by the European Business Association. Representatives of the European Commission, the Energy Community Secretariat, politicians, experts, as well as representatives from Ukraine took part in the event.
While commenting on the fulfillment of Kiev's energy-related obligations to the EU and the Energy Community, a representative from the European Commission's Directorate-General for Energy, Jeffery Piper, said that "Ukraine has missed the deadline."
