KIEV, June 6 – Should the backslide on democracy continue in Ukraine, the U.S. will apply sanctions against the state, former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Steven Pifer said during a meeting of a media club in Kiev on Wednesday.

The former ambassador also said that both Republicans and Democrats in the U.S. share the same position as regards Ukraine.

According to Pifer, there have been no significant differences between Republicans and Democrats about Ukraine over the past ten years.
