KIEV, May 11– President Viktor Yanukovych says that the “pause” in relations between Ukraine and the European Union will be useful for both sides.
"All documents are ready for the signature of the Association Agreement with the EU [and an agreement on] a free trade area. Now, I should say that the European Union initiated a pause. As far as I understand, this pause will be useful for both Ukraine and the European Union," Yanukovych said at a meeting with Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti in Kiev on Friday.
According to the Ukrainian president, the sides will settle the existing problems and find an answer in the legal context.
"I think, the answer here will be found in the legal context and you, as a lawyer, understand this, while the politicization of this issue is of course a temporary phenomenon," Yanukovych said.
