KIEV, March 30 – Germany's Bundestag is currently not ready to ratify the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union, Chairman of the Committee on the Affairs of the European Union Gunther Krichbaum said in an interview with Deutsche Welle.
"There's no doubt that relations between Ukraine and the European Union will intensify. But as for the initialing of the Association Agreement, we're speaking about a technical process of the completion of work on the document. The issue is not over. Before the agreement takes effect, all EU member states have to approve it. We're not ready for this at the moment," he said while commenting on prospects of the initialing of the Association Agreement scheduled for Friday in Brussels.
Asked by DW whether he as the head of the profile committee in Bundestag would recommend the German parliament to ratify the document, Krichbaum said, "As of yet, of course not."
