KIEV, March 21 – Ukraine hopes to promote the Oplot main battle tank on the arms market in the Asia-Pacific region, Ukraine's state-owned arms exporter Ukrspecexport reported.
The optimistic market prospects of the Oplot main battle tank on the Asian regional market were discussed by acting Ukrspecexport Director General Vadym Kozhevnikov. He was speaking during demonstration trials of Ukrainian armored vehicles that were held at a firing range in Chernihiv region during the visit by a Thai military delegation, headed by Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army Prayuth Chan-ocha, to Ukraine on March 19-20.
"The contract with Thailand for the supply of Oplot tanks is the first sign. Thai military will test the tank, and it will be advertising in this region," the company quoted Kozhevnikov as saying.
