KIEV, March 9 - Yuzhnoukrainsk nuclear power plant has started upgrading a simulator of reactor three with the replacement of the main modeling computer, the plant's press service has reported.
"It will take some 19 months to realize the project. It is intended to create a new generation simulator, with which nuclear workers will be able to design the required regimes and situation in real time, including off-project situation – with a damaged active zone, similar to what happened at Japan's Fukushima plant. In addition, the project aims at designing an engineering process analyzer for reactor three," reads the report.
U.S. company GSE Power Systems Inc. is managing the project, and Ukrainian and Russian companies were involved as subcontractors.
