KIEV, March 3 – Work on the construction of a new safe containment has begun at Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, Emergencies Minister Viktor Baloha said.

The minister announced this at a meeting with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych in the Mezhyhirya presidential residence.

"The emergencies minister said after the meeting that today it is important to ensure the fulfillment of work at Chernobyl NPP under the terms agreed upon with the EBRD and complete the work by 2015," the press service said.
