KIEV, Sept. 19 - The Ukrainian government urged regional authorities throughout Ukraine to increase prices that local gas distributing companies charge for residential heating, a government spokesman said Monday.

The government also urged Naftogaz Ukrayiny, the national oil and gas company, to make sure that it had enough natural gas stashed in reserves by Oct. 15, when heating season begins in Ukraine, the spokesman said.
