KIEV, Feb. 20 – A group of Ukrainian deputies have proposed to exclude bookmaking from the list of gambling games and to permit the work of bookmakers' offices in Ukraine.
The corresponding norm is stipulated in the draft law on bookmaker activity of February 15, 2012 that proposes legal, organizational and another specifics of the state regulation of bookmaker activity.
MPs Oleksiy Plotnikov, Valeriy Bondyk, Eduard Prutnyk, Ivan Popesku, Andriy Pinchuk (Regions Party); Valeriy Baranov and Yuriy Lytvyn (People's Party faction) are the authors of the draft.
"The adoption of the draft law will protect the rights and interests of citizens, minimize the public damage connected with the organization and holding of bookmaking activity, which in fact is illegal today, and provide a corresponding source of income for the state budget of Ukraine due to taxation in the given sphere," the explanatory note to the draft law reads.
