KIEV, Feb. 16 – The former head of the state-run Kharkiv-based Morozov design and engineering bureau, Mykhailo Borysiuk, is to blame for the problems with a contract to supply Ukrainian armored vehicles to Iraq, Petro Andreyev, the head of the State Financial Inspectorate, said at a briefing in Kiev on Wednesday.
"Due to the operations of [bureau] head, Ukraine lost a contract for Iraq worth UAH 2 billion, as money that was allocated to complete armored vehicles taking into account NATO requirements was sent to a commercial bank headed by the son of the director of the bureau, while the director was one of the [bank's] founders," he said.
