KIEV, Jan. 26 – Winter crops on around 30% of the fields in Ukraine do not have an adequate blanket of snow, so they could be damaged by the current severe frost, according to the head of the agricultural meteorology department of the Ukrainian Weather Center, Tetiana Adamenko.
"With such frosts the state of the winter crops depends on the amount of snow on the fields, and the blanket has to be at least ten centimeters. Some 30% of winter crops today do not have such protection, so they could be killed by frost," she told Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday.
