KIEV, Dec. 12 - Ukraine increased its electricity exports by 56.7% or 2.077 billion kilowatt hours year-on-year, in January-November 2011, to 5.739 billion kilowatt hours, the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry reported.
Electricity exports from the Burshtyn Energy Island to Hungary, Slovakia and Romania surged 2.8-fold or by 1.792 billion kilowatt hours, to 2.781 billion kilowatt hours. Exports to Eastern European countries skyrocketed this year because hardly any was exported to these countries in March-September 2010.
