KIEV, Dec. 5 – The production of electricity in Ukraine's integrated power grids rose by 3.9%, or 6.620 billion kilowatt hours (kWh) in January through November 2011 from the same period of 2010, to 175.509 billion kWh, according to the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry.
Ukrainian nuclear power plants for the period under review increased electricity output by 1.1%, to 81.510 billion kWh, the thermal power plants (TPP) and combined heat and power plants (CHPP) that are subordinate to the ministry saw a 10.7% rise to 76.676 billion kWh. In particular, state-run TPP saw a 10.7% rise to 67.040 billion kWh, municipally owned CHPP and power stations saw a 3.7% rise, to 7.195 billion kWh. At the same time, hydropower plants reduced electricity production by 15.7%, to 10.120 billion kWh.
