KIEV, Nov. 16 - Ukraine’s next payment for Russian natural gas due in early December will be made according to new, lower gas prices that are negotiated between the two governments, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said Wednesday.
Ukraine is due to pay before December 7 for gas supplies in November. Ukraine last week paid $1.004 billion for Russian gas supplies in October.
“I think for November gas supplies we’ll be paying according to new price and new terms,” Azarov told reporters.
Ukraine and Russia have been unsuccessfully holding gas talks since April 2010, but were only able to make progress after a September 24 meeting between President Viktor Yanukovych and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev.
