KIEV, Sept. 8 - Petro Poroshenko, the chief security advisor to President Viktor Yushchenko, suffered a double blow Thursday when the president sacked him from the post and Parliament ended his lawmaker status.

Poroshenko, once powerful secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, was on Monday accused of using his authority for personal financial gains, a charge that had triggered a sweeping political crisis in Ukraine.
