KIEV, Oct. 25 – Ukraine has taken on the obligation to import 48,000 cars duty free per year as part of the creation of a free trade zone with the European Union, according to Prime Minister Mykola Azarov.
"Unfortunately, we cannot create conditions that would fully exclude imports. Now we've held talks on the creation of a free trade zone with the European Union and taken on liabilities to import around 50,000 cars duty free. The exact figure is 48,000," he said at a meeting in the Ukrainian cabinet with, Secretary General and Technical Director of the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA), Yves van der Straaten, with the participation of Ukrainian automobile manufacturers.
