KIEV, Sept. 22 – President Viktor Yanukovych has proposed that an international research center studying the risk of using nuclear energy be created in Ukraine with the assistance of the International Atomic Energy Agency.

"I'm confident that the creation in Ukraine, with the assistance and active participation of the IAEA, of an international research center studying risks in using nuclear energy would be an important step toward strengthening the international capabilities of response to nuclear accidents and incidents. It would be a significant contribution to ensuring security for future generations," Yanukovych said on Thursday, while speaking at a high-level nuclear safety meeting of the UN General Assembly.
