KIEV, Sept. 20 – Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Boyko has invited the energy ministers of the EU member states to attend a conference on the modernization of the Ukrainian gas transport system, which is to be held in Kiev on September 29.
Boyko made the proposal during informal EU energy minister talks in Wroclaw (Poland), the press service of the Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Ministry reported on Tuesday.
"I represent a country that is one of the largest transit countries in Europe. Nearly 100 billion cubic meters of Russian gas goes through Ukraine to Europe, therefore, the situation with our transport system is important for both buyers and consumers of gas, and for all of the countries represented here. Taking this opportunity, I'm inviting all of you to attend a conference on the modernization of our gas transport system, which will take place in Ukraine on September 29 and during which we will be ready to present the future of our energy policy to you," he said.
