KIEV, Sept. 6 – The “Kharkiv agreements" will remain in effect even if the contracts for gas supplies concluded with Russia in 2009 are canceled, President Viktor Yanukovych said.
In an interview with the Kommersant Ukraine daily published on Tuesday, when asked whether the Kharkiv agreements could be cancelled if the 2009 gas contracts are broken off, the president of Ukraine said, "In that case we will have a normal European price of gas, and the Kharkiv agreements affect this price, which means minus additional $100 [per 1,000 cubic meters]."
