KIEV, Sept. 2 – Ukrainian coal producing companies January through August 2011 boosted coal output by 9.8%, or by 4.825 million tons, year-over-year, to 54.049 million tons, the Energy and Coal Ministry reported.

Production of coking coal in the first eight months of the year rose by 1.4%, or by 221,500 tons, to 16.614 million tons, and that of power-generating coal grew by 14%, or 4.603 million tons, to 37.435 million tons.
