KIEV, Aug. 19 – Any admission of guilt by Yulia Tymoshenko that she exceeded her powers when holding Ukrainian-Russian gas talks in 2009 would not be legal grounds for the revision of contracts signed between Naftogaz Ukrayiny and Gazprom, according to lawyers polled by Interfax-Ukraine.
"The validity of the contracts depends on powers of the person who signed it on behalf of the contract side. As the contract side is national joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrayiny and the contract was signed by the company head, it is unlikely that any outcome of the criminal case against Tymoshenko will influence the validity of the contract," a managing partner of Astapov Lawyers law firm, Andriy Astapov, has said.
