KIEV, July 21 – Governmental structures and leading companies from the United States that work on emergencies prevention and management are to bid to develop a 112 emergency phone system in Ukraine.
"According to the results of talks with the United States, U.S. [companies] will actively bid for the right to participate in the development of a 112 network in Ukraine in both the organizational and technical spheres," Emergencies Minister Viktor Baloha said, commenting on the results of an official visit by an interdepartmental delegation to the United States.
The minister said that detailed consultations on the possibility of involving U.S. governmental organizations and manufacturers in the development of the 112 system were held. Particular attention was paid to studying U.S. experience in preventing emergencies in crowds, and security measures at airports, which is very important for Ukraine in the run-up to its hosting the Euro 2012 European Football Championship.
