KIEV, July 14 – The ruling Regions Party has been rapidly losing public support in Ukraine, suggesting if the trend continues it may lose control over Parliament after October 2012 elections, an opinion poll shows.
The poll also shows for the first time in 12 months that cumulative support for parties that have backed the Orange Revolution in 2004 had outweighed support for the Regions and its allies.
The Regions Party enjoyed support from 13.5% of respondents, followed by the opposition Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc’s 10.9% and former parliamentary speaker Arseniy Yatseniuk-led Front of Changes’s 7.7%, according to the poll by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology (KIIS).
