MOSCOW, July 4 – The International Uranium Enrichment Center (IUEC), "the guaranteed supplier" of uranium to countries that do not have their own enrichment capacities, is planning to start commercial supplies of nuclear materials, and Ukraine could become the first recipient.
IUEC Director General Alexei Lebedev said that the first delivery of enriched uranium to Ukraine might take place in 2012.
At present, the fuel company TVEL, a part of Rosatom system, supplies most of the needs of Ukrainian nuclear power plants for nuclear fuel. Enrichment services are not provided to Ukraine separately, but are a part of the final product cost of fuel assemblies.
