KIEV, July 4 - Skhidny ore mining and processing enterprise (Zhovti Vody, Dnipropetrovsk region) has started a pilot uranium ore extraction project in the Novokostiantynivske uranium field (Kirovohrad region), the company's director general, Oleksandr Sorokin, has told the press.
He said that from June 26 pilot uranium ore extraction at two blocks 300 meters deep was started.
Sorokin also said that this year the company plans to produce around 10% of its uranium concentrate from ore extracted in the Novokostiantynivske uranium field (around 85 tons). The company expects to have the same indicators in 2012.
